The culture in Malaysia has deemed it rare for audiences to see steamy scenes in local productions, not even a kissing scene. A local TV show, however, has recently received criticism from netizens for promoting suggestive elements.

The TV show – Rampas Cintaku 2, which has been broadcast since January 19, went viral on social media with its teaser. X user @ciraplaici shared the teaser, where the actor and actress were seen staring at each other seductively and passionately in bed before sharing an unseen kiss.

“Can a love based on lust remain an eternal promise?” the caption displayed in the teaser.

The user also shared a snippet from an episode where the leading actress, Fasha Sandha, was applying lipstick when a man gently stroked her hair before unzipping her dress.

“I’m unzipping this first,” the man said.

Fasha then gently ran her fingers on his face and lips before the two shared yet another unseen kiss.

“Promoting soft porn?”

Netizens were baffled to see such scenes on the screen, and some even went to the extent to call it “soft porn.”

“There is a lot of scenes like this, and there is one on the bed, with the man half-naked.”

A user commented, “It’s like a trend now for the dramas to need soft porn scenes to boost their ratings. Don’t the actors feel disgusted? I do. How do we expect to see improvement in the film industry if this goes on?”

“This is disgusting. The man is younger than Fasha Sandha,” commented another user.

“Where are the politicians at this time? Why are they not making noise about this?”

The actor, Aidil Aziz, is well aware of the hoo-ha on the Internet about the scenes and has since broken the silence.

“We were just carrying out our duties as actors. There is no need to make a big issue out of this.”

Fellow Malaysian viewers, what do you think of this? Is this crossing the lines?
